In my experience, a restoration rit is no replacement for a monk, but it is a welcome addition. There are a lot of pve missions in Factions where having a constant prot spirit on everyone and having a constant 6 points of regen on everyone come in very handy.

Aye, i've found that taking some protection spirits and heals as a mix works well, i can give the group +3 Health regen for 45 secs, and spam +6 health regen on the tank with my warding weapon, and still get off a 150 hp heal now and then, mixed in with shelter and union and blood it makes a good class

Something funny though. I was in Neph (SP) doing the kills the 4 spirits quest to become closer to the stars, and i see a guy asking for 1 tank, 2 healers 1 prot, and 2 nukers, so i ask to join, he bluntly tells me Rit's are a novelty class with no real use, and he wants a prot monk and heal monk only. So 5 mins later he is still asking for 2 monks, despite a lot of Rits around.

Anyways i join a group that isnt optimal maybe, but had a healing Rit, me as a Prot Rit and the rest the normal classes. 25 minutes later the quest is done, we all got the max reward and back in town, who do i see asking for a heal monk..the same guy It seems people would rather wait for hours in a town for an optimal group, than try something a bit different, which makes no sense to me, baring in mind you have nothing to lose but time, that guy is prolly still there asking for his perfect group.

As a side note, what is Rank? I have been turned down for groups before because they only want Rank 6+ players, or rank 3+ players thats a new one to me when i asked him what rank was i just got called a n00b lol. Any ideas?

PS im starting to see that Rit's rock

As a Rit, I get invited for parties easily. A restoring Ritualist can definitely not compare to a Monk, but there are very little monks around, so Rits get picked as a substitute.

Some Restoration magic heals seem to be quite powerful. I'm only just buying them thanks to high jadeite prices though, no really effective build found yet.

The ritualist works as a great support healing. The spirits provide weak, but efficient AoE healing. If the group is smart, then that would usually be sufficient. A warrior with a tank build (unfortunately, these warriors are EXTREMELY rare), should be able to survive forever. Casters who know how to run and break away from the enemy should be able to recover their health from ritualist skills. However, the ritualist cannot compare to a monk when it comes to direct healing. If a non-tank gets focus fired by the enemy mob, the Monk is much better at keeping that guy alive. Or if a guy decides to stay put under heavy attacks, only the monk can heal that person fast enough. If the group is smart, no monk is even necessary at all. Minor healing such as recuperation, is enough because the weaker characters should be avoid damage and the tank should be able to hold the line forever.

It's really sad to see that Mesmers are still being ignored. Mesmers are very useful because Cantha seems to have much more casters. It's much cheaper to stop the enemy from getting spells off than to heal the damage. Who needs healing when the enemy cannot hit you? Healing is only important if your group takes a shitload of damage. People need to consider avoiding/reducing damage too.

maybe a day will come when people realize the differance between a frontline and backline spirit.
so when your defencive rit is spamming spirits that fortify a team to no end people will be less incline to assume a monk can take his place.

there was a time when fire elementalists were a must have and any necro was a selection afterthought.

I have a Rit/Mo and have no problems getting into groups. I go restoration and communing. The heals are not as good as monk but they are very very good to support the monks. The protection spirits are a godsend for most teams. I have no problems getting in a group and many thank me when we finish for the spirits. A Rit is a very valuable and versatile class and thats why I made it. I have found since release all the uptight people that go by the old cookiecutter builds have come and have made it harder for some ppl and harder to beat missions. Factions was made to take use of the new classes and many times without one it will make things a hundred times harder.
